Built by Bishop Erlendur around
1300, the church was probably the official cathedral of
the Faroes until the Reformation. Also called Múrurin
(lit. “The Wall”), it is the largest and most
beautiful medieval construction in the Faroes. The famous
“Kirkjubø Chairs” were part of the
furnishing of the cathedral.
